A downloadable game

"Drink all the beer... but beware of the wildlife!"

This is a game-prototype I made a few years ago during Christmas holidays. It was half meant as joke and half as test to see if I can make something like a game work on the Commodore 64. Its written in Basic, so its sloooow. There are no animations, just some  PETSCII backgrounds and (clumsily) moving sprites.

To win, drink all beer and avoid being killed. Move the guy over to the shed on the right end of the screen and he will drink as much as he can. Occasionally he will have to empty his bladder. So go find the bush on the left part of the screen. Beware of the spider that is roaming there. If it catches you the game ends. So just jump over it. Easy, right? If not for the clumsy controls, of course.

You will need an emulator or original hardware to run it. The game is controlled with a joystick in port 2.

I would be amazed if anyone was interested in this, but there are only so many new c64 games coming out these days, so I figured it would be okay to leave it on here just in case. :)

Install instructions

Download the .prg and/or .d64 files and open them with your emulator of choice. For instance, https://c64online.com/c64-online-emulator/ works like a charm. Just drag one of the files to automatically load the disk image and start the game.

Once its loaded, press a button to start playing. If you can't move, make sure your joystick emulation is set to port 2. You can even configure a gamepad or whatever to play.

Optional: Use run/stop to stop the game and type LIST to look at the sourcecode.
